Dr Takeo Shimizu 1912-2011

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Dr Takeo Shimizu on 14th February 2011 at the age of 99 after a long illness.

Dr Shimizu contributed more than anyone to the understanding of fireworks and their effects and contributed to many papers, some of which are available from this site.

Dr Shimizu was also a fascinating man and a great host – I had the pleasure of meeting with him on several occasions and he entertained me on a trip to Japan in the early 1990s.
