Flying a vehicle to altitude, keeping it together near Mach and finding it (after it has totally gone out of sight!)… in high power rocketry that can be quite a challenge! Recent years have seen the introduction of electronic devices both for aerobraking deployment and sequencing. We have seen high tech building materials, such as carbon composites, in high power rocketry (HPR) models. We have also seen a growth in sophistication in the standard solid rocket motors, especially with the introduction of reloads. Growth of the hobby has also drawn the attention of more regulatory agencies to solid rocket motors. Time has come for the introduction in HPR of a new propulsion technology.

Ref: JPyro, Issue 5, 1997, pp47-59
(J5_1)

By: Al Jackson Technical Illustrations by Mark Rowley, Introduction: High power model rocketry has its charms, besides the sound of the outward bound.
